Supporting Resilience: Parenting Teens in Uncertain Times
4 Week Online Parenting Series

The teenage years are unlike any other developmental stage and can present new and unexpected challenges for parents. Parenting teens in this version of today's world is a task that no other generation of parents have tackled before. 

Through guided conversations, this series will address the unique challenges of parenting teens through these uncertain times. Each week we will explore a new topic with the focus of developing new skills and insights. In addition, we will find ways to tailor your new skills and insight to your unique situation. Most importantly, we will provide space to share and connect with other parents.


Potential Topics:
  • Emotional and Behavioral Boundaries
  • Trust and Accountability
  • Parental Self-Care and Guilt
  • Latest Research on Adolescent Development Informed Parenting
  • Active Listening/Validation
  • Collaborative Problem Solving and Problem Ownership with Teenagers

Course Includes: 
  • Four 2 hour parent support groups sessions
  • Optional individual or couple parent coaching session

When/Where:
Mondays: 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/18
6:30-8:30pm over video conference


Who is the Course For?
This course is for parents, step-parents, or caregivers of teenagers ages 13-18 years. The course is for every type of parenting situation including parenting on your own, step-parenting and parenting as a couple and other configurations. This course welcomes parents with children who are neurotypical and neuroatypical. 

Cost:
Sliding scale: $100-$300 for whole series/person

Jed Purses, M.A., Parent Coach

Jed Purses specializes in working with families with adolescents and runs the family programming for an adolescent residential treatment program. In addition, Jed works as a therapist in outpatient settings supporting families and teens to recover from mental health and behavioral challenges and family dysfunction. Jed earned a B.A. from UC Berkeley, an M.A. from Touro University Worldwide and is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and several other somatic and mindfulness based modalities.

​Melissa Guyot, M.A., Parent Coach 

Melissa Guyot has worked extensively as a therapist with families and children in private practice, residential and school settings. Melissa is trained in many therapeutic modalities and utilizes somatic based techniques to bring strength and clarity to relationships, support connection and develop awareness to address underlying causes of family and parental challenges. Melissa earned her M.A. in Somatic Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies.
